The Challenge.
Despite offering free, 24/7 online tutoring to all K-12 students in California, the HelpNow program remained underutilized, especially among underserved communities. The challenge was to increase awareness and drive participation in areas where students needed it the most.
Our Approach.
Sagent led an equity-focused outreach campaign rooted in cultural relevance and trusted community connections. We collaborated with local organizations and created multilingual, multimedia content to reach families in both rural and urban areas. By centering the message around access, equity, and ease of use, we broke down barriers and empowered families to take advantage of a vital educational resource.
The Results.
- Partnered with 141 community-based organizations—including 67 AAPI and 74 African American and Hispanic groups—to extend trusted outreach
- Delivered over 15.7 million media impressions through radio, digital, print, and out-of-home placements in multiple languages
- Increased overall program usage by 31%, including a 60% rise among English and Spanish speakers and a 40% rise among Mandarin-speaking households
- Designed and distributed multilingual toolkits and outreach materials to libraries and partner organizations statewide, reinforcing long-term awareness
